Each week, the Messages of Divine Love offer intuitive insight, weaving together wisdom from tarot and oracle readings. These messages are channeled from Mother Earth, who grounds and nourishes us; the Ancients, who walk beside us with their guidance; the Guides, who propel us toward growth; Mother Mary, who holds us in unconditional love; and our Future Selves, looking back on the signs we see today, urging us forward with clarity and courage.

INTRO NOTES TO THE DECK & READING

Having the gift of sight, pattern recognition, is not easy during this time. Even though I can see swirls of storms coming each week, I sense the horrors coming, but each time I’m as shocked and dismayed as the rest of you. There is nothing quite as disconcerting as seeing something seemingly impossible just a few years ago and watching it unfurl like a bloody flag in front of you.

However, confirmation does not always offer prediction, just a marker on the map telling us how far we’ve come and how far it will be until we arrive at safety. These checkpoints also tell us what is needed from the collective as we move forward. If we listen closely between the lines, we’ll hear what people need. They need help paying for groceries, help fixing their cars, help finding a job, help finding child care, help finding communities of recovery.

Which is why our relationships have been going through some endings and significant changes - we need people who are actually going to help us instead of derailing us. At each checkpoint, we find new allies and let go of old enemies. Overly critical people and anyone who grabs at the wheel every time we drive forward toward our dreams are no longer welcome on this bus. Who cares if you’re driving the Struggle Bus - at least you don’t have backseat drivers who remind you all the time of your struggle and instead are helping you navigate the barriers.

Watch the posts this week and start asking people, “What is one thing today, no matter how small, that could make your world a little better?” Then either share the time, talent, or treasure you have, or get their need in front of someone who can. Everyone is going to need a boost so we feel less defeated and more grounded in our strength.

Which brings us to this week’s reading: Despite the name, this Healing Light tarot is a bit…acerbic in personality. While I love the art, every time I’ve pulled from this deck, it’s always blunt and pessimistic, which is why I added this “What’s the Tea?” Oracle cards - a snarky deck that gives me a little direction and grounding back into reality. Over the past few years, when I use this deck, I end up adding some of my own statements - take what you will from those cards, an extra flavor to guide the week.

Last week, I advised us to start making self-protection a habit. That is even more important this week as the President begins to make the very predictable move of clamping down on civil rights and protests. The time has come to lock down our practices, processes, and conversations away from those who aren’t within our circle. If they’re not arm-in-arm with you in defending your loved ones, they don’t belong on your “need to know” list. Be aware of what information people have on you that could make you vulnerable. The surveillance state doesn’t need any help.

Yes, everything right now feels enormously bad, but remember that defeat is optional. There are rounds that we’re going to lose, but if we’re strategic, we can use their gloating victories to our advantage. The guides are showing us that even in loss, we find strength. The wind gets knocked out of us, our heart gets racing, but we learn better about how to anticipate the blows. Dust yourself off and regroup. This isn’t the end of our story, just the villain’s gloating overreach. Our moment is coming.

Throat Chakra

Mother Earth will always bear the messages that matter most for our physical reality - what will keep us in harmony with Earth, what will help us build material security. This week, the feelings of powerlessness have been overwhelming. It always feels like there is never enough of us to meet the dangers posed to our existence. The more powerless you feel, the more you need to align what power you do have for good. This is where the act of listening, a throat chakra theme, becomes even more important. Listen to what the needs of your friends and community are. Assess what time, talent, or treasure you have to offer and let these two things coalesce into a new strength.

Here are some places that could use your time, talent, or treasure:

1. My friends at Parasol Patrol have a huge month ahead of them and yet have fallen on some personally hard times. Dropping a donation their way during Pride Month helps these sparkly warriors show up for community.

2. The advocates over at Vivant Health, an organization that provides services for people living with HIV, are facing a funding shortfall thanks to Trump. Share info about the work they do and familiarize yourself with the needs of this community.

3. The Colorado Cross Disability Coalition is always in need of extra voices to amplify their cause. If you care about the cuts to Medicaid, be sure you’re on their mailing list (and if you click the link, you’ll see a photo of me with CCDC when we passed the changes to the state Aid to Needy Disabled program in 2019😁).

4. Denver Basic Income Project is looking to start a new cohort to expand our research that supports the effectiveness of these programs. We have so much great data that shows the impact on employment, housing, and health but what has stood out for me is how basic income has helped our participants gain a sense of belonging. The Fool (R)

Third Eye Chakra

An ongoing theme over the past few weeks has been “We’re saving you from something worse”. That dream we wanted, the relationship we’ve idolized, the job we were pursuing, stayed out of reach for a reason. The fool reversed can sometimes be an admonishment about hesitation, about a lack of bravery to take a risk on the divine. Here, the ancients are telling us that they put barriers in our path for a reason. There was a purpose to the problem, a benevolence to the barrier that positioned us to be exactly where we are now. Don’t curse the difficulty, for it is delivering you into the right moment.

Sacral Chakra

Part of the reason I’m advising you to take another look at your privacy practices is not just because of Palantir, but because soon the people around us who haven’t done their inner work are gonna start getting obsessive over our successes. Believe it or not, as bad as things seem now, they can and likely will get worse in the next six months. The Knight of Wands reversed warns us of reckless interference: people who act impulsively, obsessively, and without care for consequences. Pay no attention to the obsessive trolls, the nosy neighbors, and the online obsessives. They will try to poke holes and throw gossipy debris in your path to slow you down. Don’t give them enough ammunition to make a dent because god knows that they’ll definitely try. Stay vigilant. Their chaos is not yours to carry.

Heart Chakra

The more that gets revealed, the more disgusting it feels. The temptation is to cut our losses and give up, but we both know that isn’t a real option. The world needs us more than ever, but that doesn’t mean we have to like every task, person, or situation we encounter. There are going to be disappointing days when discouragement stacks up against us. But we can’t let it solidify into bitterness. Mother Mary’s message here is reassurance that you’re not alone. But we can’t let that stop our progress. Take the time to be honest with yourself about what you’re feeling and direct the blame at the correct people, not the world itself. Do what you can to cleanse your emotional and intellectual palate before moving on to other good works.

Solar Plexus Chakra

I view Pages as the interns of the tarot court cards. They’re young, inexperienced, but so full of energy and enthusiasm that they can get a lot done in a short period. Don’t underestimate how motivating it can be to prove your worth. Ordinarily, with the page of wands, I would lean toward a practical jokester elected to student council leadership energy, but this week’s is more mischievous and subversive. This week’s card is giving us Congressional aide purposely filing the wrong paperwork to embarrass theTrump administration vibes. Inspired and strategic cock-blocking sabotage is the theme of this game. Let your rebellion be playful. Let your joy seep into the system and gum up the works. Make them pick glitter out of their hair. Show them how ridiculous they are with proportionally hilarious clapbacks.

Undercurrents

Queen of Swords

Crown Chakra

To go along with the advice from Mother Earth, the undercurrents reinforce that our priority and strategy need to be on fundraising, resource allocation, and collective organization. This is where the Queen of Swords can be exceptionally useful. I always view queens as the advisors or gifted managers of a project, they are a necessary force to ensure no one gets left behind and all have what they need. The Queen of Swords reminds us that leadership is about precision - organizing structures, strategizing outcomes, and ensuring every voice in the community is heard and supported. This is a good queen to have on our side in the undercurrent right now. Lean into those qualities this week as you apply your focus to ensuring your communities of care can thrive during this time.

This is not my favorite card because I view it as tedious, busy work. The pulling of the weeds from the garden, the data entry, the ordering of supplies, and the drafting of the agenda. These are the thankless tasks that keep a venture going. And this will be what keeps us going, too. Continue to engage in your day-to-day tasks, even if they seem small and pointless. Part of how we get through this is chipping away every day at the forces that would drive us back. If we tend to these processes in our daily lives, we will have the infrastructure ready to shift to a better reality when the time comes (and yes, that time is coming!).

PARTING WORDS FROM A GEEK EMPRESS

Divine timing has been coming up a lot in the readings lately. Interventions of spirit that have pulled us off one path and dropped us into another. What seemed like an abrupt, even traumatizing shift now is being revealed as being for our highest good. Yes, we had to go through hardship and pain, but if we had stayed where we were, pursuing what we had intended, everything would be upside down, and we’d be stuck.

An example - a few days before I was outed by the GOP in 2006, I had been approached about running for office. I was not just flattered, I was already sold. I was starting to assess my finances and my family’s readiness when the worst hit. The challenges I faced when my integrity was attacked by total strangers were a harsh, if not necessary, lesson in how unfitting that path would be for me. But I still clung to it, feeling like a failure because I was now tossed off the path I had been training for since high school. I was not only worried about what others thought of me, but also lost as to what I could or would do next.

But here’s the thing: if nothing had happened, I would have run for office and might have even won (in my district, likely), putting me in a position of public service during this current crisis. And while I know some of you think that would be an objectively good thing, being embedded in that system as it is collapsing wouldn’t have improved our odds, especially if I hadn’t gone through the internal healing I have now. I don’t know if I could have trusted myself to not cling to old systems, mourning the dust that is slipping through my fingers. I definitely wouldn’t be as open and as vulnerable as I am now. I definitely wouldn’t be giving you these messages every week.

No, the divine knew that I needed more freedom, more expansive territory than politics could have given me. Sure, the other path would have led to power, prestige and a lot more pay, but I would also be confined to a particular version of myself, maybe I never would have been out - or maybe it would have been a bigger deal. I would have been masking my neurodivergence all the time. The work I’m doing now gives me more freedom to do what I do best - meet you where you are.

Radiating a rainbow within

When I was a kid, I used to tell people that my favorite color was “rainbow” because I couldn’t decide which color was prettiest, I loved them all together. (That’s similar to how I pursue my polyamory as well 😊). I have prisms in each of my windows because I love how sunlight gets transformed into a multitude of spectral shades. So when I was introduced to chakras and later Reiki, I found a language that matches my healing work like Rainbow Brite and Punky Brewster matched my younger self.

To say that each reading I do is Reiki-infused would be an understatement - the alignment of our chakras, our energy centers, has been a theme in these readings for several years now. When I share a chakra interpretation, it is a reflection of where that energy is hitting the most with the message. The hope is that even if it is hitting you in a different space, the chakra guidance will give you some inspiration for reflection.
