Each week, the Messages of Divine Love offer intuitive insight, weaving together wisdom from tarot and oracle readings. These messages are channeled from Mother Earth, who grounds and nourishes us; the Ancients, who walk beside us with their guidance; the Guides, who propel us toward growth; Mother Mary, who holds us in unconditional love; and our Future Selves, looking back on the signs we see today, urging us forward with clarity and courage.
Rooted in my lived experience as a bisexual, disabled Chicana and shaped by my work in trauma-informed care and public policy, these readings are offered to foster collective care, creative connection, and a vision of compassionate justice that honors us all. INTRO NOTES TO THE DECK & READING
You can't control the divine nature of the universe. It moves both too fast and too slow to be contained. Spinning and ever present, we are but small specs in the vast greatness of it all. Left vs right seems so irrelevant when infinity is being born every day, when life is renewed before our very eyes with the changing of the seasons. If we spend our lives honing our resentments, we shun the destiny the divine has been cooking up for us.
Making a wish for a thing doesn't automatically produce it. But if you make a wish and then follow through with a motion, like a penny into a fountain, it sets a ripple of consequences into motion that cannot be controlled or contained. It must be lived and experienced. That wish + action reverberates and intersects with the wishes + actions of others. Sometimes those ripples collide and develop new ones, intersecting others. Sometimes the coins stir up dust underneath, clouding the waters for everyone else. Sometimes the wishes themselves change once things are set into motion and clarity is delivered. But what has been set into motion will ripple through our little ponds, changing with or without our consent.
And if we are all throwing wishes and actions like elbows in this capitalistic world, how can we not be affected by the wishes of others, the actions of others, the intersection of consequences? For the Trump-loving farmer, he voted (action) to close the border (wish), but didn’t pay attention to reducing SNAP or USAID because his contracts didn’t say those things. But the distributor he gave his product to is funded by those programs and cannot accept his product, thanks to the GOP tax cut and DOGE cancellations. Likewise, his kids’ school lunches will now suffer because he didn’t know how much they also relied on similar contracts and grants. It will be a consequence felt by all because enough people attached impulsive wishes to this action, and now the ripples are coming fast & hard.
We can try to prevent these consequences, of course, but the more we apply ourselves to controlling for the “find out” phase the less we’re paying attention to the wishes that sponsored the “fuck around”. It was the wish (xenophobic reaction to immigrants) that caused the motion (vote for Trump) to bypass any evaluation of the consequences. So the consequences need to be felt if we want to reduce how often that particular wish gets tossed into the mix.
The problem isn’t just that people voted for Trump, it’s that the fear of immigrants/trans folks/liberals/aliens/vaccines became a bigger threat to their sense of self-preservation than the legal realities of sustaining their families and businesses. They let someone else define their wish with lies and misinformation, making the action seem reasonable. Abdicating that responsibility needs to collide uncomfortably with their comfort, otherwise it will continue happening. We keep focusing on the action of voting for Trump rather than the wish of a strongman to close the border. Interrogating the underlying intentions is the only way to shift the consequences of the next actions they’ll take.
This week, I want us to remain clear and focused on the content of our wishes. Once we toss that coin in the cosmic fountain, the ripples will push forth. So accept the responsibility of whatever will come of that action, the challenges and rewards that follow. And allow it to play forth, because that’s the only way to purify our wishes, too. Be brave enough to face these consequences together so we are all pushing toward a more integrated and heart-centered world.
As you read these, keep in mind that this deck, like other John Holland decks, operates more like an oracle than a traditional tarot. Instead of court cards, this deck has chakra cards (which I love, but none show up this week). It also combines the meaning of 9/10 of each suit into the 9 cards. Likewise, the titles of the major arcana are different and offer a new perspective unique to this deck. So even though I’ll be adding in the tarot correspondences, it won’t always align with what you might be used to. Drop any of your questions in the comments below.
Where We Are This Week
Two of Swords
Throat Chakra
It’s the framing of us vs. them that needs the most clarification and intervention right now. I’m as guilty of it as anyone, even with all my experience as a mediator. But when we’re under existential threat, all we can see is the conflict right in front of our nose. However, the distance we might need to traverse for an agreement is far shorter than we think. All it takes is one brave party to break the stubborn stand-off and reach out their hand with an offering of understanding. You are looking at the same problem, and if someone were to just take a step toward the other person, they’d perhaps find the keys to delivering an agreement. Evaluate the areas in which your stubbornness could soften, where you could engage yourself in a different point of view, if only to reach an understanding of common problems.
From Our Guides
Eight of Wands
Solar Plexus Chakra
There are some successes right now that are starting to gather momentum. A bunch of tiny actions can translate into larger movements. For example, the very act of sharing your garden produce with your friends, family & neighbors starts building interest in collectives of care outside corporate profits. It’s about investing in community. Even if it’s just a few tomatoes and herbs, you are sharing your abundance, inspiring others to do the same. Don’t expect results right away, but these small actions can create some amazing ripples that move us all in the right direction.
Messages from Lady Gaia/Mother Earth
Ace of Cups (R)
Heart Chakra
We are too impatient. Yes, we didn’t vote for this (even if you did, I doubt you are here reading my words and wishing suffering on whole populations) but enough people did that it’s going to have to play out so we can make the case to change the willpower that threw those pennies in the cosmic fountain to begin with. Changing hearts & minds is a delicate business. People go whole lifetimes without changing out of their cruelty. We cannot avoid feeling this pain alongside all the others. And to wish for a speedy end is to wish for another round of the same problem + consequence scheme. Be patient with the universe. Relief is coming…but it needs time to build momentum (see above card). Keep your actions consistent with the outcome of harmony we most need.
Messages from the Ancients
Temperance (R)
Crown Chakra
Who else gets a “just let trans people live in peace” vibe out of this card? In general, I’ve always seen the Temperance card as a genderless entity, so that would track for this depiction. Both female and male merged into one divine being. Indeed, this is how some cultures view trans and nonbinary folk in general. And I promise you, no matter how conforming your family line might appear to be along the male/female binary, they have gone through their shifts in self-expression, worn their masks, and suppressed authenticity, too. Isn’t it time we interrogate these supposed “rules of nature” and release ourselves from the confines of inauthentic channels of self-expression? This is a crown chakra activity because it requires us to look beyond the mere stories and into the deeper cosmic connections of our spiritual lineage.
Messages from Our Future Selves
Justice
Sacral Chakra
We need to have a serious conversation about what level of Justice we want to see in our world. Not just on a macro level, but the personal as well. Justice should be a part of healing, not a new thing to have to heal from. Are we refusing to move forward despite the efforts made to restore us? Take some serious time this week to contemplate what you want to feel when justice is finally served in your world. What could make a dent in releasing the pain of injustice so you can move forward? Make that the goal, the intention, and apply your actions toward the release of pain more than the continuation of punishment.
Messages from Mother Mary
Nine of Swords (R)
Root Chakra
The nine and ten of swords in any deck might feel threatening, disturbing, or scary. But here, I want to reinforce that we are living a cacophony of consequences that are reverberating out from decisions made long ago - I mean, Ronald Regan old. These are old nightmares that are coming to fruition, manifesting from the collective fears of people who fed those wishes (like xenophobia, trans hatred, and white supremacy) with their actions. The thing we need to concentrate on the most is not making matters worse by throwing in new hatred in with the intentions we’re building out today. Clarify what you’re planting so you don’t grow new nightmares in these ripples of humanity.
Undercurrents
Six of Wands (R)
Third Eye Chakra
Especially with a new moon in Gemini tonight, I want us to be clear about the wishes we are making. Think through the consequences of our actions, offer wishes that generate a shift in thinking, not solidifying a broken reality. And yes, ripples from our wishes and actions might be disruptive for others - that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing. For example, disappointment can inspire someone to be more honest or direct about their needs. Anger can uncover truths that have been burrowing underneath the surface. Failure might be the one thing that unlocks hidden talents, setting the stage for future excellence.
Final Advice
Nine of Cups (R)
Crown Chakra
Last week, we had the Ten of Pentacles (reversed) here. Now we have the 9/10 of Cups also reversed. It’s hard to feel like we’re not getting squashed under all this disappointment. But this week, we’re going to see more of the FAFO energy that intersects with our desires. That’s why the most important thing is to worry less about how other people intersect with our dreams, but rather to make our dreams inclusive of how other people inevitably will interact with us. Meaning, make your dreams ride the waves that other people are making. Don’t resist, allow the universe to know which channels you need to be in for those dreams to come true. Worry less about controlling the outcome and more about meeting the outcomes that are coming your way with grace and surrender - those currents will take you to an even bigger sense of freedom than you could have ever imagined. Stop trying to control small pools of information and instead float on the big waves of change.
PARTING WORDS FROM A GEEK EMPRESS
It is not our role to steal lessons from others, but rather to let the universe guide us to our destination. If we are constantly trying to control everything (and everyone) around us, we interfere with the blessings that were already coming to us through others' actions. When we put our initial wish and action into motion, the universe started looking for ways to make that happen. The more effort we put into forcing something to happen, the more we're pushing back what was initiated with the first action we took, sending our requested blessings through the people and situations we might least expect. Let the ripples settle before throwing in a contradictory command.
For example, every day we pray that a family member will "see the light" on a problematic pattern of theirs. We follow it up with a conversation, but don't trust that the message was received or will be taken seriously. At first, they seemed to be trying to understand, but they started slipping. So we started correcting them, interrupting them, forcing them to adjust. It starts to create some tension, and then they backslide. So we begin to obsess over their behavior until we are constantly monitoring them, anticipating the next wrong thing they're going to do before they even do it. Soon, it becomes clear that they're never going to get it, so we start getting resentful over all that we've done for them, angry at their selfishness and stubbornness until we can’t stand to be around them anymore.
Trying to force a result, babysitting someone who never asked for it, we are then shaping them into someone they're not. So the intention isn't really for their authentic enlightenment, it's for our power over their enlightenment. Yet, if we had just left it at the conversation, applying a helpful word or positive feedback along the way, it's possible the seed planted would have grown on its own. In fact, they might have already made a call to start the process of repair, but our nitpicking and surveillance discouraged that process from taking root. We have to let the consequences of our actions play out before we start shifting the goal posts, interfering in the flow of what we’ve already set into motion.
This week, we need to focus on where we can work with the natural flow already present in the waves. Sort of like these clips from Star Trek: TNG + Star Trek: Discovery, we have to ride the waves to get out of the trap of control we’ve set for ourselves. Employ some humility and let the divine guide you out by embracing the nature of manifestation. Clarify your ask, make your intention align, and use it to combine with the power of the universe already flowing instead of fighting against it.
Rates are increasing in July
Yes, I’m sorry to say that because of the decisions being made in Washington and how they impact the work I do here in Colorado, I will have no choice but to raise my rates.
Trust me, I hate this.
I will still have a special rate for those who are on limited incomes, and I’ll have a sponsorship rate for folks who can afford to pay for more. But if you want to get in under the old rates, I have a ton of openings in June. I am usually booking a few weeks out, but I even have availability this week. Submit your booking request before July 1, I’m happy to honor these rates:
Messages of Divine Love are a 30-minute reading ($50);
A 60-minute deeper dive into the topic of your choice is available ($75)
Year ahead and Chakra clearings are 90 min each ($100).
You also have the option to book a Shadow Work reading (Divine Love + Shadow Self + coaching), which is also 90 minutes, but because of the level of prep needed for this intuitive work costs more ($150).
