Cracking Us Apart (Messages of Divine Love)

INTRO NOTES TO THE DECK & READING
First, my apologies for not having a Messages of Divine Love from last week. June 25th is the anniversary of my calling, the day I saw the Hands of Mary in Medjugorje. I usually take time off between the Summer Solstice (also a holy day for me) and the anniversary, but because this was the 35th anniversary, I spent all five of those days engaging in some form of support for different aspects of my calling as a spiritual retreat. But with the week that we’ve had, maybe the cards would never have been enough to convey the seriousness of the time that we’re in.
Because we are living in an era of cartoon villainy run amok, which is why I chose this Disney Villains deck for this week. I have loved this deck for how effortlessly it’s able to use our childhood images to paint a picture of the current environment. It's great at speaking to the shadow self, especially the inner child. Those memorable scoundrels are far preferable to the reckless real-life villains we have looming around us right now. I mean...did you see that Peter Thiel interview? 😵
And we need a soft landing this week because...holy shit, what the actual fuck was all of that? Especially with SCOTUS.
The past five years have been a slow burn of watching the legal institutions I loved and revered torn apart from the inside out. I might have left the legal profession in 2020 after many years of struggle, but I still believed in the rule of law, the value of due process, even if I wanted to structurally shift us away from carceral violence as our primary means of resolution. I certainly have my disputes with the profession, but not with the concept of co-equal branches of government. But since 2016/17, when Trump first took office, I’ve seen a concerning strategic trend to undermine all of that framework.
When Trump started sowing doubt into our elections during the pandemic, it read to me as a transparent attempt to groom people into believing him when he would eventually claim, like a garden variety generational abuser, “The election was stolen; see, I told you they were out to get me.” And a bunch of people who didn’t bother to know how anything worked before threw their lot in with him, believing conspiracy theories about admiralty law (🙄) and lending their spiritual power to the Great Awakening or whatever. For anyone who has done their healing, the outcomes are predictable…

It will likely take force to make him leave. He will never want to let go of his unearned importance and fallow mental real estate he occupies on a daily basis.
Some don’t yet know they’re being abused – and at this point we can’t do it for them. We can’t open their eyes or do their reasoning for them. We just have to make sure the resources are there when they are ready to reject him.

He is doing his damned best to force compliance, to pressure us into praise, to remake the world into his own distorted image. The question is not whether he will succeed in cracking us, but whether we’ll be like eggshells crushed to dust and recycled into their agenda, or whether we’ll be shards of mirror that slice open the malicious hand that reaches out to take us?
Where We Are This Week
The Lovers (R)
Throat Chakra
Some of what we’re encountering this week are innocent misfires - everyone has a short fuse these days. But sometimes we’re finally seeing someone’s true colors, seeing how out of alignment they are with us and where we are headed. It isn’t our job to save everyone, but it is our job to know why we can’t. I say “can’t” very deliberately here. For example, if I don’t have a rocket, spacesuit, or an engineering degree, I can’t functionally save someone from running out of air in outer space. Likewise, if I don’t have protection, boundaries, and/or a neutral third party, I can’t functionally save someone who is actively setting off red flags for abuse. But if all it takes is just a conversation to clear the air and reset expectations, maybe you don’t have to throw them out with the bathwater. Likewise, if they are offering some hard truths, that isn’t a reason to abandon them, but a sign that perhaps we needed to see ourselves in the mirror. Be clear about your why when it comes to your feelings about others, particularly those who annoy you as you move through this week.

I’m actually a little shocked that I feel this card in the heart chakra of all things. But Shere Kahn here reminds me that there are many different motives and ideals that can be present in a leader. There are those who provide structure and security. Those who provide abundance and celebration. Others who offer comfort and recovery. But all these different forms of leadership are about exercising their talents as a form of responsibility. There are many different ways to lead, so don’t worry about whether you’re showing up the “right way”, but whether you’re showing up in a way that responsibly honors both your talents and the needs of the people around you.

Somewhere in both the introduction and the “Parting Words” below, I have linked an essay I wrote about my time with a spiritual group that fell down the conspiracy theory hole. When that was happening, I kept having recurring visions along “the grid” of lightworkers enticed by the false promises of patriarchy’s passive-aggressive feminine recruitment (“we’re the leopards who won’t eat your face, we promise!🤞🏼”). They were gathering their powers to build scaffolding in black and red, scaffolding to protect their dear leader, to align themselves in hierarchies of worth, to hang their communities out to dry because “politics is too low vibe” and because “all lives matter”. A confrontation is coming, but not between us and them…but them and Mother Earth. Soon, a reckoning will eliminate their advantages, level the playing field…and that’s when we need to take the lead. Until then, do your best to make sure you make right with Mother Earth to be spared their punishment.

Even though this is a different card, I’m going to give this “Oh my friends, the ancestors are in the driver’s seat this week. They want us to be clear in our purpose, intentional in righting the wrongs of the past. “Never again” is a promise they made to us and the generations before. But it has to be activated in us to truly take root. Do all in your power to speak up against injustice this week. This isn’t a suggestion, but a command.” Do NOT let history repeat itself more than it already has. This ends with us.

Soon, sooner than we think, we will find a new kind of leader rising - one that this newsletter is specifically designed to reach: heart-centered leaders. These are the folks who recognize that their duty is to ensure we all rise together, to keep the cups full both physically but especially emotionally. They don’t deny their feelings, they don’t shy away from processing pain. My friends…and I say this with all seriousness because I have met many of you - your leadership moment is coming. Be ready and think about how you’ll contribute to filling those cups from where you are.

The way we get from the ‘never again’ brink of disaster to the rise of the compassionate leader is by committing to be the one who supplies the time, talent, or treasure to do so. You do not have to hold the world’s grief all on your own, nor must you do all of the work - that’s a patriarchal, capitalist, colonized point of view that will no longer serve us. It’s okay to let go of the ideas of things like always expecting a reward/payback for your effort in a specific form/timeframe. Seriously…we need to stop nitpicking and making our support conditional, instead, find a reason to help and let the universe owe you one (that manifesting will be easier after this crisis later anyway).
Undercurrents

So, fun story - we have the EXACT same undercurrents as the last time I sent out the Messages. So here we go again with the exact same advice, but now with a heart chakra theme: There are going to be some painful goodbyes, some opportunities, and relationships lost…You might have been uprooted, but it’s only to be planted in more fertile ground that can support instead of stunt your growth. But here is the catch - we’re starting to see people’s true colors. The “but Nazis had a point” types have already been filtered out. These are the “so committed to conformity they’d rather ‘not get into politics’ than lift a finger to call their Senator types. Choose your inner circle carefully and if you find yourself drifting apart from someone, let it happen…you need the distance to see them…and yourself clearly.

Everyone has a few cards they hate - mine are the sevens. I just dislike all of them, but none of them as much as the Seven of Swords. I have difficulty lying and always want to believe the best in people. That doesn’t stop the fact that people do terrible things to each other. This care of betrayal tells me that devious, dirty tricks await us through this gauntlet of state-sponsored harm. All of that healing you’ve done? It’s so you know when your gut is telling you to Get the Fuck Out! Some people are at deeper risk than others, and some people are more easily targeted than others. What will make a major difference in this fight is if we know ourselves well enough to discern the difference between a gut feeling from our intuition and our programmed responses. If a gut feeling is telling you wrong, honor it - because ultimately, there is a LOT wrong, but the suppression of that understanding is a root cause holding us all back.
PARTING WORDS FROM A GEEK EMPRESS
I saw false claims of mail ballot fraud on my social media feed as early as April. Colorado integrated statewide mail-in ballots in 2013 and it has one of the most robust systems out there, so I knew these claims were just plain propoganda. Yet, the social justice attorney in me saw these seeds of doubt taking hold, growing excuses to further disenfranchise voters in Novemeber. The pandemic was already going to hamstring many state systems that relied on in-person voting, but this had even larger implications.

We have now seen what those implications have become, how further attempts to disenfranchise voters, to shake a tree until “fake electors” apples fall enough times to bonk enough heads until they’re following along for a round 2. My gawd, do we see what that complicity + ignorance wrought?
So many are holding out hope for a Congressional upset in 2026, but respectfully, none of that will matter while we have people who continue to not care about how anything works, but instead hook into whatever fantasy they’re fed. Talking points are now generated by AI, trained on our behavior, and practicing against us in real time with bot farms every day on social media. But instead of feeding disassociated white people alternate realities, they’re turning the left against itself. We’re squished between both sides.
Patriarchy is setting up an impossible choice for many of us - survival vs. standing with our communities. It’s an easy choice to use for coercion when we don’t trust the people standing with us to choose us as much as we say we would choose them. This is why and how these forces continue to win - they separate us with lies of distrust, stealing our voices to give us a taste of only a fraction of what we wanted. They are already stealing freedom of speech. What else are we going to be asked to give up in the name of whatever unholy contract they’ve coerced half our country into believing?
The only way out that I can see is to stay the course by believing and shining as brightly as you can on the outside, while tending to the roots of your community on the inside. Let the sparkle and shine of the freak show distract them from the real work we’re doing in the background.
Example: Saturday, on a whim, I was inspired to post a photo of me trying on a bikini for the first time in 20 years. I was so proud of myself, not for the weight loss as much as the courage it took for me to not recoil from the mirror. I just wanted to share that shine - little did I realize it would touch so many people who would give enormously positive feedback, many of whom are now determined to do the same for themselves.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t plan to give them my voice in advance. I’m not going to be an eggshell crushed under their boot, but rather a sparkling, shining shard of mirror ball greatness that will cut a frosty, ice-y bitch if they try to reach for me. Crush me if you can, and I’ll show you why I’m both sweet AND sharp.
