A Peek at Last Week…
A Vision on the Horizon (Messages of Divine Love)
The Messages of Divine Love weaves together tarot & social justice insight through channeled messages from Mother Earth, who grounds and nourishes us; the Ancients, who walk beside us with their guidance; the Guides, who propel us toward growth; Mother Mary, who holds us in unconditional love; and our Future Selves, looking back on the signs we see toda…
Last week, I discussed a vision that was glimmering on the horizon - a spark of hope ✨that tells us there will be an end to these storms. But even as some reached for that glimmer, others, like me, warned of how hasty and pressured action could create entanglements, advising not to cede ground that we don’t absolutely need to. Some proved themselves willing to compromise their values for a win. How notably unimpressive. 😣
INTRO NOTES TO THE DECK & READING
I’d be lying if I said I’m not burned out. Each day, I feel at the tattered edges of my sanity, checking my breath to confirm my existence as the news threatens to swallow me whole every morning. I sleep for eight hours and wake unrefreshed, unexcited about the day ahead. No matter how much I want to see someone, how optimistic I feel about my circumstances, each new day offers fresh wounds and renewed triggers. Inevitably, I wonder whether I should just give up this vision and go back to lawyer work - especially now that so many resources for our most vulnerable will be pressured.
“Not everyone has someone like you in their lives, someone who offers hope & healing, truth & justice in one” - words my partner told me on one of the many days, I woke crying into his shoulder at some new threat from the Supreme Court or some traumatizing video of another ICE raid. The trauma is intentional - we know this. We know they inundate us with messages we can’t ignore, snide remarks that spike our dopamine rush. Social media is making a killing off our chaos - because we can’t force ourselves to look away from what that idiot with 34 followers said. They have gotten us so stirred up in fighting each other that we’ve forgotten we’re on the same human team.
If we’re going to be corralled into binary funnels, dueling channels of polarization, then might as well make it impossible to hold us, destined to break their barriers, overflow their containers. When we make ourselves so loud, so shiny, so damn bright we are impossible to ignore and hard to restrain.
Yes, Gavin Newsom is doing a lot of that right now - but remember that just a few short months ago, we were shaking our heads at his equivocations. He is not the only one pushing back, but he’s hitting the right notes both legally and tonally. But much of that tonal shift can be attributed to Camile Zapata, who heads his social media team. They’re on a hot streak that has knocked Trump’s magic off its game - but they’ll regroup soon, and we’ll need to keep pivoting until we’ve weakened the armor enough to make our big move.

Don’t be fooled into putting all our eggs in one basket. If we pin all our hopes on one man or one strategy, we give them the opportunity to regroup and strengthen their assault on our sanity. Our shine makes us unpredictable - our authenticity delivers a dazzling onslaught of shame without the name-calling they’re so used to. Frustrate them with the mirrors, show them where they can’t even stand to their own values. Remind them that they spin out with assumptions - stay calm and curious, nimble and shrewd. We'll need that this week.
Where We Are This Week
Ten of Cups (R)
Heart Chakra
No matter how much we revisit these themes of disappointment, betrayal, hurt, and separation, we’ll never get to the cure while we continue to avoid looking at the pain, facing difficult truths about the lies we swallowed. This heartbreak doesn’t sting as much as the three of swords might, but it’s about disappointed hopes that never manifested, or grew toxic over time, the slow decay of neglect. Examining what went wrong, what triggered the decline will help point to areas where the heart deserves healing and protection, but also trust and partnership.

Different deck, same card as last week! Friends, there is something rotten in the ether, infecting everything we see and interact with online. Such as the sudden surge of accounts that demand obedience to someone shining in this political moment, instead of those who have been consistently leading these movements. The message coming through right now is Be careful who and what you trust, sugar and salt can look the same but have very different effects. The onus is on us to be better than the lie-drenched clown show that has duped so many. It’s a low bar to be sure, but even more critical, we know where the boundaries are. Because if we choose to pick up their tools (like Gavin Newsom) is doing, then we have to know when to put them down before we bloody our own hands just as easily. Last week I wrote:
Revelations will start arriving more and more by the day. The full extent to which we as a society have allowed the worst of us to deceive and deny us will come to light more rapidly. Don’t get so caught up in the shock that you forget the work of managing the impacts. People will be breaking apart and they’ll need people like us who have faced these things (awakenings) before to help them make sense of it. The deprogramming work is going to happen in earnest whether they’re ready or not.
Messages from Lady Gaia/Mother Earth
The Sun (R)
Solar Plexus Chakra
Last week it was a blurred World reversed, this week it’s the Sun reversed. We’re being called out by Mother Earth. Too many of us have hidden our talents, dimmed our light or failed to show up recently. Whether it’s driven by fear, by habit or just the depletion of our energy, Mother Earth is begging us to show our true colors right now. This card urges us to suck up the fear of rejection and do it anyway, to show the world who we are. Unless you were hoping to die with the music still inside you?
Messages from the Ancients
Queen of Cups (R)
Sacral Chakra
Last week was the Death card - our ancestors urging us to listen to their stories. This week is about dealing with the emotional fallout of all of that betrayal. Almost as if this card is a direct answer to the challenge presented by the previous one (The Sun- R), this contextualizes our grief around the deeper threads tied into this.

Messages from Our Future Selves
Seven of Pentacles
Root Chakra
This is the second time this month this card has come up in this position. To me, this points to the need to keep our heads in the game, to actually put the work into showing up the way we’re needed in our local communities and workplaces. Look for opportunities within your processes to align more with natural rhythms of life, even if it’s just realigning your work priorities to better align with your energy patterns (like if you do better with social things in the morning, scheduling your heavier meetings for that time can be SOOO beneficial). This is a great time to set and practice new boundaries.
Messages from Mother Mary
Page of Cups
Crown Chakra
Mother Mary points to one specific strategy that can help us through this time - engage in radical, if not uncomfortable, curiosity. Apply it everywhere. Learn to respond with “tell me more about that” instead of jumping to conclusions. Approach others the way you’d want to be approached, and you’ll learn a LOT more than if you react, judge, or condemn too quickly. But I say uncomfortable, because …you’ll learn a lot about the secrets people are hiding from themselves, which will make you think more about the ones you keep from yourself. So be aware of that walking in.
Undercurrents
Knight of Swords
Third Eye Chakra
There are tons of exciting things happening under the surface, some daring intellectual and spiritual maneuverings that some very brave souls have taken on. If you’re one of the ones working under the surface like I am, allow me to share some advice: In order to take those big swings, you have to not only commit to the bravery of doing it, but the outcome of nailing it. Do a lot of practice swings first to get the nerves out so that by the time you’re ready, you astound everyone by pulling off the impossible. Look for the same qualities in the leaders you support. Are they taking a swing just because they can or because they have a plan to bring home the win?
Final Advice
Page of Swords (R)
Solar Plexus Chakra
If you have been feeling like some forces have been deliberately toying with your healing, threatening your calm, draining your hope, you’re not alone, my friends. We have so much going for us, but old habits die hard. Don’t allow them to invite you to arguments that will convince no one. Instead, exercise whatever self-restraint you can before you put your foot into your mouth in ways that do threaten the healing you’ve gained. Each time you feel tempted, ask yourself, “What am I actually reacting to and what other choices do I have?”
PARTING WORDS FROM A GEEK EMPRESS
We all need glimmers in the dark, but swallowing disappointment in order to grasp at that one faint light isn’t the answer. People have been eager to jump onto bandwagons simply because they offer some relief, not because it’s the best choice. This week, I want to remind us that while we should be happy someone is fighting back, we should be less focused on endorsing a candidate and more focused on creating a cohesive vision worth endorsing.
Anyone can be “against” something, but it takes a leader to truly repair the damage done while making sure everyone feels seen & heard. Whether it’s big or little picture - we all deserve better, settling for just “okay” won’t build the future we want. “Anyone is better than Trump” = a fairly low standard when we have the entire field open to us. If we can learn to reach for each other, rather than a solitary leader, we can actually start healing, not just winning. Let’s focus on building out the bench so that no matter who’s at bat, we can rely on them.
I chose a peach theme for this week’s reading because not only is it peach & chile season here in Colorado (Palisade peaches are divine and Pueblo/mirasol green chiles are a staple in our family), but also because A League of Their Own offers so many apt parallels to the reading. Whether you love the older movie with Geena Davis, Tom Hanks & Lori Petty or the newer series, the Rockford Peaches give us some great insight into the need to not rely on any one star of the show, but to build a team capable of pulling off the impossible (even if they don’t).
And just like we can’t pin all our hopes on just one hitter or just one pitcher (injuries & life happen), we need to focus on building our bench. And from a leadership perspective, the more we recognize and celebrate the people who are on our team, the more we can draw out the best in them. Because let’s face it, just like you can’t play baseball by yourself, our political system is a team sport, whether you like it or not. And while you certainly want the best team you can find, there is hidden talent (the Sun reversed) that has yet to be seen. If you believe in your team, they can take you to victory, within a fingertip’s reach of the abundance we’ve been promised.
As always, may blessings follow you throughout the week to remind you that you are never alone: We are all connected 💖
New Class! Surviving Your Tower Moment (Part 2)
Next Thursday 8/28 (6pm Mountain - via Zoom)
I hope you’ll join me for the next Surviving Your Tower Moment class happening next Thursday.
Picking Up the Pieces Together
In this second installment of the "Surviving Your Tower Moment" series, we will be examining how these moments of sudden change impact the people around us, including our own trust issues with what help to accept and what "help" to avoid.
In this 2-hour session, we will be covering different conflicts and collaborations that present themselves when humanity is facing its worst day. You will like how to call in the heroic helpers, the soul teams that work collaboratively and cohesively by your side, but also how to manage the naysayers and saboteurs who will waste your time with unsolicited advice and judgment. We'll discuss conflict styles, honoring & setting boundaries, consent, and trauma-informed advocacy strategies.
I promise, I won't make you role-play, but I will ask you to contribute your voice in a meaningful way - I learn just as much from you!
This is one of a 3-part series leading up to a deeper Reiki for Heart-Centered Leadership Course happening in October.
