A Peek at Last Week…
The post-script on last week’s reading defies expectation, even for me. Here I was talking about surrendering the ground that remains conflicted in our hearts, offering our barriers and challenges up so we can free ourselves for the bigger roles we are all to play. As usual, how it played out for me was infinitely different than what I imagined: I found out last week that an abusive ex passed away.
I could spend the next month just trying to describe that relationship, its significance, or why I didn’t pay attention to the signs that it was all going horribly bad. But in the end, it would only keep me tethered to my bitterness and sense of betrayal, stuck in a loop of “was I kind enough?” with a man who will never be able to definitively answer me.
Even if he had let go of his distorted sense of self-importance, he kept grasping at the relationship he thought he was missing, always forgetting to honor and cherish the woman I have become today. Instead of reconciling our past hurts with the growth I had experienced, he kept trying to hold me to a prior mold that I cast aside long ago. Yet, he didn’t love me well enough to protect my healing, to respect my journey or approach with compassion. And so the “kindness” of keeping my distance was one of the few options I had left. Was it perfect, no…but can I surrender the question into the hands of the divine? Yes.
INTRO NOTES TO THE DECK & READING
This week, the overwhelming theme of the energies revolves around compassion and empathy, as well as self-discipline and restraint. Tempers will flare, but the question is whether we can shift the conversation with some…flair.
However, as you are undoubtedly aware, this reading is now two days late. As I interpreted the cards, as speculation on Trump’s health skyrocketed over the weekend, the guidance I got was to wait. Wait until after his press conference; wait until after the Epstein victims’ had their day with the press. And while we haven’t seen anything groundbreaking (moving Space Command is a retaliatory move that many here in Colorado expected; a flyover to honor a foreign fighter pilot interrupted the Epstein victims’ press conference), I want us to focus on what we’re noticing in the cracks of the armor plating.
I have spent a lifetime “turning the mirror” on people as a matter of policy strategy. It isn’t to perpetuate a pattern of punishment, but to facilitate the awakening of empathy. Once the soul has been seen, and I mean truly seen, it cannot be unseen. A crack emerges in the tighty-wound masks that we wear - a crack where seeds of compassion can be planted inside. We can’t grow a world of interconnected hope if we keep insisting on isolating beliefs that demand more than we are willing to give.
Tarot offers a good mirror for these times. Still, few, especially in my profession (law/policy/public service), give much credit to the value of intuition as a tool worthy of development. Likewise, a whole bunch of intuitives devalued knowing how any of our government processes work. Prioritizing one to the exclusion of the other only leaves us with lopsided choices that further fracture our world. Inutitive people who aren’t operating from a similar set of facts are as dangerous as policy professionals who refuse to consider the human impact as a normal part of their analysis. Each has the learn the language of the other to reach true solutions that benefit us all.
Our failure to recognize the space between us, to listen for what is not being said as much as what is, causes us to continue to miss the mark. How can we move forward when we keep assuming we all have the same facts or prioritize the same outcomes? How can we move forward when we fill in the blanks, when we shout our conclusions so loud that no one else can be heard, including and especially those with lived experience? Strategists operate from a set of procedures that assume a world that functions as expected; intuitives know that nothing will be the same after this.
Yet, when these two sides don’t see each other, don’t speak the same language, we are already at a disadvantage - we are already leaving each other behind. Assuming is easy; investigating is hard. And the cards this week confirm that we have to examine all that we assumed about ourselves and each other, to truly realize the power of this moment.
Where We Are This Week
Queen of Swords (R)
Third Eye Chakra
This is my old foe. If there is any “type” I don’t get along with very well, it’s the type embodied in the queen of swords reversed. She stings without cause, injures with the cruel flick of her wrist. She can talk circles around you until you’re convinced that the cruelty was always your own idea. She can wound you with a glance, never caring the cost of her cold, calculating ambition. The temptation to wound, injure or project will be profound this week. Don’t give into easy impulse.
From Our Guides
The Devil
Root Chakra
The air is thick with deception and addiction this week. The bindings that have been holding us back are trying to pull us back in, drawing us back into old patterns, bringing out the Devil in us. But I would remind you that the Devil is almost always…us. If we take this opportunity for what it is, we can see where these invisible bonds lie, sever them with sincerity, recognizing the falsehoods that draw out our worst. There’s a reason the Devil arrives before the Tower - once the truth is illuminated, you can never go back to the structures that allowed it to exist in the first place. Pay VERY close attention to how the Devil shows up in the news and our own triggers this week.
Messages from Lady Gaia/Mother Earth
Eight of Pentacles
Sacral Chakra
I have always felt that, unlike other “hard work” cards in the tarot deck, this one in particular is about our particular skillset, our mastery of an art form that others desperately want to be a part of. We are so good, in fact, that we make it look easy. Well, right now, we can’t be hiding our talent, shying away from our art. We need it now more than ever! Mother Earth wants us to co-create this world together, with not just the eyes of the dreamer or the heart of the warrior, but the shrewd practice of the builder.
Messages from the Ancients
Seven of Pentacles (R)
Solar Plexus Chakra
The ancestors warn that if we keep doing things the way they’ve always been done, we’re doomed to keep repeating the same dying patterns. We have GOT to break some eggs to make this omelette (serious quote from my ancestors) - we cannot nourish the needs of our people if we’re too busy cradling the egos (eggs) of a distorted past.
Messages from Our Future Selves
The Star
Heart Chakra
When you are ready, you will shine brighter than you ever have, calling people home to themselves. Twinkling with life, the seeds you plant today, if nurtured with faith, will become the hope of tomorrow. Busy yourself with authenticity and connection more than criticism and derision. It will pay off in the end.
Messages from Mother Mary
Knight of Cups
Crown Chakra
The future will be won by those who can transform chaos into care. The people who share their cup with the stranger, the ones who forge alliances out of exile. Life is too short not to lead from the heart and this world too fragile to wait for someone else to do it.
Undercurrents
The Lovers
Throat Chakra
Appropriately enough, we have to start facing the world less as a warrior and more as a lover. Lovers listen to their other, embracing their differences without judging their faults. They give us a world where we can melt into vulnerability, open ourselves to understanding, and take the risk on surrender. There is a time and a place for the warrior, but right now, we need the words and presence of the lover.
Final Advice
Queen of Wands (R)
Root Chakra
The temptation will be to burn it all down this week, to rage at the betrayals and misdeeds of the world. The impulse itself isn’t wrong, but the methodology will do more damage than it will solve. We have every right to be angry at the broken promises of old systems, but we also have to channel that into the intentionality of the moment. We can’t always do what will make us feel better, but we can apply our fire to making our world stop harming others the way we were harmed. The two are not mutually exclusive, but destruction has to align with the purpose, not the emotion.
PARTING WORDS FROM A GEEK EMPRESS
Many intuitives have talked about the threads of protection surrounding Trump, making it difficult to hex him directly. A ton of “lightwashing witches” who have not yet dealt with their internalized misogyny, white supremacy, or colonizing-loving selves are lending their power and energy to a man who was promised to them as a savior. None of them is powerful enough on their own to protect him without help, which also means that we can pick them off like flies if we are spiritually vigilant enough.
Just like many Aes Sedai have to lend their magic to contain the False Dragon, a man who can channel in The Wheel of Time, these intutives are using their power to protect a man hardly deserving of it. Too many of them have grown confident in their spell work, their magic, their prayers, or alignment that they forget they’re standing on ground that was destined to crack open, that they themselves had been hoping to crack open. And while Trump is protected, they forgot to protect themselves from the witches they stole from…from the people they abandoned, from the humanity they ignored. One by one, they’ll all fall down…and none of the king’s men will be able to put Humpty Trumpty back together again.
Use this imagery: Trump stands in the center of a large dais in the center of a field. Hundreds of magical protectors surround him, standing on scaffolding of swirling red embers, purple electricity, and liquid black granite holding them up - the ill-gotten gains of white supremacy, patriarchy, and colonization that intertwine this world. Lured in by promises of ascension (aka superiority), seduced by flattery for their “awareness”, they lend their energies to the dumpy ringleader in the middle. Cords of white energy flow out and wrap around them, weaving a tight basketweave of silver-tongued deflection around him. And just like it’s not easy to tear the nylon weave of a seat belt, each person is wrapping layers of these energetic “seatbelts” around him to protect him. A shallow, cheap dome protects the protectors - making it hard to “launch” any scaled or individual attack at them or him.
As our frontline defenders push back the horde of brainwashed talking point soldiers amassing on the borders, our intuitive forces will stand with all ten toes to work for Mother Earth, nurturing her with our trust, loving with our full selves as we ask her to reignite the ancient cords buried by these forces, forgotten after millenia of colonization: the codes that were preserved in our ancestral memories for this moment in time. We devote ourselves to awakening the old ways, lighting the old tunnels that saved generations before us, applying the cipher to unlock the living, breathing core of Earth, to return our magic back into our hands again. She is our general, our commandress-in-chief, and we obey her will. We pledge ourselves into her care, offering trust and sanctity, humility and surrender, calling back our power to be used at her sacred direction.
She instructs us first to awaken our own side, make sure each of us is standing ten toes in, communing with the sacredness in ourselves, seeing the sacredness in each other.
Then we awaken the old pathways, the original grid of Mother Earth, the seed/flower of life that demonstrates our interdependent nature - the foundation upon which every other structure depends. We strengthen these roots, cleaning them up, repairing the roads and pathways between us, digging out the debris left behind by the neglect and trauma of our prior selves.
We pour our authenticity into these revived highways of connection, each of us a cord of color all our own (mine looks like rose quartz, how about yours?) that braids and intertwines (like the nylon of the seatbelt) to create indestructible roads of interdependence. I can’t help but fight with you, for you, because the pain you experience impacts me too. The tethers don’t bind us, but instead flow through us, carrying our intentions to people and places we never thought we’d touch.
As we carefully dig our way through to enemy territory, we come upon the spikes of the scaffolding holding up these war witches, detached from Mother Earth, a condition of their service to the unholy forces that have jailed us for so long. We will twist our way from the bottom up, curling our energy upwards - for it is we, the survivors, who have learned to reach for sunlight out of the darkest shadows, like vines reclaiming abandoned structures. We will quietly pull out the pins that would have stabilized the floor under their feet, we’ll dent the stairs so they tumble, we’ll unwind the ropes so they flap away at the slighted breeze. We’ll whisper truths in their ears as they watch the earth crack open beneath them, destabilizing the ground they laid their bets on, the real estate mogul who sold them the shifting sands of betrayal as a new home.
One by one, we’ve been taking them down, loosening their grip, breaking their concentration, making them question all their “guides” (aka QAnon) told them. With each Fuck Around and Find Out, more of them drop their cords, retracting them from the cocoon they’ve wrapped him in, weakening him. The more the ground rattles under their feet, the more easily our messages can slip in, the more seeds we can plant to become mirrors around them, toppling them from these false towers of ascension, bringing them back into equal footing with us.
And that’s when the real rebuilding work can finally begin.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding with these late messages…But I firmly believe they arrive exactly as they are meant to.
As always, may blessings follow you throughout the week to remind you that you are never alone: We are all connected 💖
