INTRO NOTES TO THE DECK & READING
Welcome new subscribers to the Messages of Divine Love! Since 2021, I have been pulling and interpreting Tarot/oracle cards for the collective energy that might be impacting heat-centered folks such as you and me. There is an interconnectedness I feel in sharing this part of myself with you, sharing a little of what I see, what I've always seen.
It's hard to be interconnected in such a distant and disengaged world. Someone wrote me this week "It's hard to love Hamas". Yup, just as it is hard to love white supremacists. As it's hard to love any of the men who hurt me. But to believe this is that humanity, even that one small corner of hatred, is irredeemable. Because what about the hatred that pays so little attention to the deaths of children? Or the society that openly targets trans people? Where do we draw the line between redeemable and irredeemable humans? Especially if we're painting with broad strokes. Because if there is a whole group of people who are irredeemable, then they must be somehow unequal to me - especially if I ever expect to have "redemption" for my inhume mistakes and consequential flaws.
And yet, it's the glimmer of something inside, a truth so ancient and buried that these systems of patriarchy, capitalism, and white supremacy had to construct themselves on top of, entombing the wisdom so deep that only the waters flowing deep under our feet can reach. But once you see that interconnectedness, retrieve that ancient knowing from our ancestors, do we realize, as they did too late, that our separateness should never be what defines us. Water is one of the elements that connect us, the moon reflecting the mysteries of our past, the vast patterns of the cosmos that live within us, that connect us to the people who came before us. We are all one whether we want to absorb it or not.
I chose the Queen of the Moon Oracle because it seemed like a fitting choice for the Capricorn New Moon on 1/11. The energy this week urges us to unlock the waters, and emotions, that connect us, just as the moon is connected to all water on Earth. Lean into that interconnectedness, the honesty of the flow, and the emotional connections we have. I'm not sure if you feel the same, but this is the kind of spiritual balm I needed this week. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
Thank you for being here! Have a blessed and beautiful New Year ❤️🔥🙏💖
Where We Are This Week
Focus
Third Eye Chakra
It might feel like we're right in the thick of it, flooded with too much violence, too much loss, too much instability. We're swimming and barely treading water without even a direction to head toward. However, we just need to keep going forward the best we know how shutting out everything except the divine wisdom that is speaking to us right now. The butterfly shows the opportunity to follow where the spirit leads. But to do this we have to focus on our work, rather than appointing ourselves the supervisor of everyone else's work. Take a deep breath and take the next step with trust in what you are being shown and don't worry so much about what others might think - they have their floods to wade through.
Messages from our Guides
Beauty
Sacral Chakra
"Stop! You are more beautiful than you realize" the guides whisper in our ears as we examine our curves, lumps, and bumps under the unforgiving light of self-scrutiny. We've been told for so long who we're supposed to be that we've forgotten how to praise the beauty that others already find in us. Each of us, every single one of us, is a worthy, magnificent expression of humanity's rich diversity. There is no one else exactly like you - with your background, your emotional landscape, your collection of dreams, nightmares, or challenges. And no one else knows your blessings - which are greater and bolder than any of us allow. So this week, try to find the beauty within and recognize that the outer is but a shell for the warmth of the soul that radiates beyond how your body appears, functions, or in my case, dysfunctions.
Messages from Lady Gaia/Mother Earth
Pleasure
Heart Chakra
This message from Mother Earth is hardly surprising given how much pain there is in the world right now. Our life force, our heart centers want to radiate out of us, to care for the world, to offer solace in the storms. But to show up for others, we must treat pleasure as an essential part of our resistance. Togetherness, intimacy, laughter, connection - this is how we defeat the darkness within. For centuries, patriarchy has denied us pleasure, like a strict taskmaster who punishes us for indulging in a ten-minute break or eating a cookie. In this card, the energy of Mother Earth reminds us to take part in the connectedness of life. It is in the laughter we share, the dancing of our bodies, the worship of our sensual release, the songs we sing, and the stories we listen and tell is the warmth that thaws even the hardest hearts and the strength that feeds the spirit hungry for justice. Find pleasure, even in the falling snow or the innocent eyes of a puppy. It all matters.
Messages from the Ancients
Acceptance
Solar Plexus Chakra
First, many loud voices came through with this card - the biggest of which was, "Don’t doubt for a moment that we love and accept you. We want you to be the best you that you can be, even if we didn't act that way in life". It makes me think of my grandparents whom I always hid my polyamory and bisexuality from. Being the staunch Catholics they were, I didn't trust that I would still be loved (or left alone). Holding that secret out of a fear of rejection is something nearly every queer, trans or nonbinary person can relate to. But here, the message of their acceptance is treated more like a preamble to a bigger message, "thing can't move forward until you also accept yourself". It brought tears to my eyes because I'm sure too many of us relate to the idea that the rejections we faced started to frame what we stopped accepting in ourselves. So dig deep on this one, call in the ancestors, and listen with an open heart to heal that solar plexus energy of self-acceptance.
Messages from Our Future Selves
The Void
Crown Chakra
This is another "the only way out is through" sort of card. We're all in the process of expanding (I prefer saying that to "ascension" which implies a not-so-subtle hierarchy) but we're currently in this in-between, nowhere void. Which is very much the experience and theme of the new/dark moon in general. That uncertainty has certainly been rattling us, but the truth is, it's been rattling us so that we exit the false safety of the structures and beliefs we've been inhabiting. Very specifically, the time between this past new moon and the next (February 9th) is the time when we most need to let go of our expectations, and our anxiety to control the outcome and just surrender to the will of the divine. As many astrologers have noted, shifts are coming and the more we can let go of the need to control the present situations the better we will be. Give & trust that spirit will guide you.
Messages from Mother Mary
Self-Reflection
Throat Chakra
Not to put too fine of a point on it, but the need for self-acceptance + release of our expectations is necessary here. In laying out the cards in the spread, Mother Mary acts as a bridge, a divine guide between our past (the ancients/west), the present (Where we are this week), and the future (our future selves). Take this time between these two new moons to get right with who you are. Get to know both the figure that always seems to be underwater and the more idealized version of ourselves that we actually mostly resemble. While I wouldn't discourage you from seeking the support and input of others, remember that few truly see the fullness of us without also having to open up themselves just as much. What matters more is forgiving ourselves with sincerity for all that we are. Recognizing that others' rejection doesn't have to sour the sanctity of our own vision. If we can remember that our flaws and heartaches won't ever tell the full picture of who we are, we have an easier time weaving them as just another thread of the story of our survival, not the prickly barbed wire of our darkest times.
Extra Card
Extremes
Third Eye Chakra
This card popped out as I was shuffling, tears coming down my face as I felt overwhelmed with the pain I feel for Palestinians and those in the Congo undergoing such extremes of inhumanity. The unbearable pain, on the heels of an American insurrection, exposure of the cruelties of police brutality, a pandemic that isn't even over, the rising losses to preventable causes whether it be disease, hunger, climate change, or war. This collective awakening, this mourning yawn as we stretch and await the damage reports each day - this disaster-in-waiting survival mode is a taste of the problems have to collectively face within ourselves and with each other. Healing only happens in the community and those resilient enough to have adapted to every bad situation in the world - the most vulnerable among us - they will be the ones to step forward as leaders. Because no matter how bad someone's had it, I need to learn from others' pain so I better know how to stop endorsing the behaviors that create that systemic pain. For it is only those who have faced the worst of humanity - you, me, all of us - who know the immense power of love to overcome everything. We are the ones who haven't lost faith because we haven't lost our hearts. And only those who can survive in these extreme conditions can design systems that better work for the world we have instead of the world we kept patching together with the cracked glue of patriarchy and the inferior bricks of capitalism.
Undercurrent
Creation
Root Chakra
All those intentions we've been putting our energy and trust toward are starting to yield something. Magical people are entering our lives, delayed payments are finally coming through, calls are getting returned, things are getting rescheduled and finally moving along. The undercurrent stresses the importance of building up trust in our ability to create. Bear dynamic witness to the creations that are popping up around you and the role you had in bringing this about. Even if it was "I did a hard thing and finally scheduled the appointment," that tells you what kind of effort and energy it took from you to make something happen, no matter how small. Because last week, month, year it was just a wish, just another unreachable goal. Absorb that message as part of your newly rooted beliefs about yourself.
Final Advice
Hunger
Solar Plexus Chakra
This week will have us drawing from deep within to express and feed the hunger inside. Whether that is a hunger for justice or self-forgiveness. Transforming that hunger into empowerment, into a drive forward will be the true magic that we can direct ourselves toward this week. We need to shine so bright that we draw in our "pack" who hunger and thirst for the same kind of world that we do. Specifically look to let our hunger for a better world be the howl we issue across the cosmos with our every breath, our every thought, our every word. Especially using the time between now and the full moon on the 25th to share our vision, no matter how small or vast, to let it burn through us from the inside out. It's time to ignite that which can unite us.
PARTING WORDS FROM A GEEK EMPRESS
Each of us is on a sacred path, riddled with dangers and problems. Even if you and I walk the same steps along the same path, each of us is drawn there by something different, a glimmer of something within. Each of us is meant to get something different out of the journey. It doesn't matter how much we try to make ourselves "the same" as someone else, there are infinite varieties of who we are that exist in the minds of everyone we meet.
Maybe we were the ones who told them "You can do it" helping them gain strength along the way. Maybe we were the ones who hurtfully said, "Are you kidding? No one would ever go out with a freak like you?" and that shy soul from high school now has that on repeat over and over in their head when dating. The power of our influence cannot be understated - our lives intersect and touch the lives of others on a divine level...so maybe it's time to take responsibility for that. The image of Loki at the end of season 2 portrays the gravity of our interconnectedness. The teamwork that is needed before he finally realizes he has the power and weight of responsibility for harmonizing the threads of his influence all along.
The biggest lie any of us ever believed is that we are anything but a mirrored reflection of the whole. A glittering, flowing example of humanity's exquisite capacity for harmony in the ocean of so much variety. We are all threads of an infinite pattern, so carefully crafted to help us better harmonize all those differences into a tapestry of energy. If you could see what I see - the luminosity of the colors, so vibrant with life, the truth that each of us brings, flowing through the earth, reconnecting us to the true purpose of our lives here - to find new ways to adapt and harmonize as drops of experience in an infinite ocean of connectedness.
No matter what happens this week, remember I am with you always in love 💖
